Asuvidha ke liye khed hai
Ingredients
1 Fish(Halwa(black promfret) or King fish)
1 1/2 tblsp red chilly powder
1/2 tblsp haldi powder
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tblsp ginger garlic paste
2 tblsp chickpea flour(besan)
1 cup rawa
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Directions:
Clean the fish and cut it into pieces.
Mix all the ingredients with 2 tblsp water(except rawa). Add the fish. Keep it aside for 1 hour.
Heat oil in a pan. Coat the fish in the rawa and deep fry it.
Remove it in a paper.
A typical manglorean sambhar which goes well with idli.
Ingredients:
1/4 kg yellow vatana
5 medium sized tomatoes
3 tblsp sambhar powder
1/2 tblsp hing powder
Tur Dal 1/2 the qty of yellow vatana
15 curry leaves
2 medium sized chopped onions
1/2 tblsp mustard seeds
pinch of turmeric powder
7 garlic crushed
2 big tblsp oil
salt to taste
Directions:
Soak the yellow vatana overnight. Cut the tomatotes into long pieces.Clean the tur dal.
Boil the yellow vatana, tomatoes, turdal, sambhar powder, turmeric powder, haldi powder, onions, hing and salt in pressure cooker with 1 litre water. Cook for 4-5 whistles.
For tempering:
Heat oil, add the mustard seeds. Once the mustard seeds start crackling add the curry leaves and garlic. Pour this tempering over the sambhar.

Ingredients:
1 cup peas and beans
3 medium sized potato
1/2 cup cauliflower
1/2 cup shimla mirch
6 medium sized tomatoes
2 tblsp pav bhaji masals
butter
1/2 tblsp haldi powder
1/2 tblsp mirchi powder
Salt to taste
1 large onion chopped
1/2 cup chopped corainder
2 tblsp ginger garlic paste
Directions:
Make puree of tomatoes. Chop the onions and coriander. Boil all the vegetables(except shimla mirch) with some salt in a cooker. Seperate the water.
Heat butter in a vessel(more the butter tastier the bhaaji :)).Add onions. Fry for 3 mins. Add ginger garlic paste. Fry for 3 mins. Add the shimla mirch. Let the shimla mirch cook. Add the tomatoes, mirchi powder(depends on how much spicy you want) and haldi powder. Cook for 10 mins. Add the remaining vegetables, pav bhaji and salt accordingly. Keep the gas in slow flame and smash the vegetables(cook for around 10-15 mins. Add the coriander at the end.
Serve with lemon and onion
Ingredients:
1 beetroot sliced
1 cucumber sliced
1 potato(boiled and sliced)
1 onions sliced
1 carrot sliced
1 tomato sliced
Bread(preferably brown bread, you can use normal bread also)
Butter
Tomato Ketchup
Chutney:
1 cup pudina leaves
1 inch ginger
1/2 cup grated coconut
2 green chillies
salt to taste
Direction:
First Make the chutney with little water. Make it bit spicy, it goes well when you add ketchup on the top of the sandwich(teekha meetha taste )
Take 2 slices of bread. Apply butter and chutney on both the slices. Keep a layer of cucumber slices, follwed by beetroot,carrot,potato an onion slice. Upar se ketchup. Bas, enjoy simple healthy and tasty veg sandwich.
Sounds funny that i am posting the recipe for chai. I like the chai prepared with milk and water boiled together, rather than they are boiled seperately. With ginger it adds a nice kick to your chai(not that kick :D). Hope you like this way of preparing chai.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 tblsp sugar
small piece of ginger
1 tblsp tea powder
Directions:
In a vessel add milk, water. Boil it. Add tea powder, sugar and crushed ginger(ginger should be crushed, else wont get the taste). Bring it to boil till it gets a nice brown color. Strain it in a cup.
Note: Add one clove and two elaichi to add more taste to your tea
Ingredients:
3 karela(bitter melon)
3 tblsp besan
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 1/2 tblsp chilly powder
Pinch of Turmeric
Pinch of Hing(asafoetida)
oil for frying
Salt to taste
Directions:
Cut the karela into two parts and make thin long slices of it(The thiner the slices, the crispier will be the fries). Place it in salt water to reduce the bitterness.
In a bowl take besan,salt,chilly powder,turmeric,hing and lemon juice. Add very little water, the batter should be thick. Mix in the sliced karelas(the batter should only coat the karela).
Keep it aside for 1 hr(so that the masala is soaked by the karela)
Deep fry it in oil. Remove it in tissue paper once its crisp.
Note: You can sprinkle some chaat masala
A simple suji ka halwa recipe, which goes well with puri also or you can have it simply as snack.
Ingredients:
1 cup rawa
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup water
2 elaichi
5 tblsp ghee
Directions:
Mix water, sugar and boil it.
Heat kadhai. Add ghee, rawa and elaichi powder. Fry in slow flame for 10 mins. Once rawa is fried add the sugar syrup. Suji ka halwa is ready.
Note: You can add kaju/badam, or simply serve it.

Ingredients:
200gms Pasta
8-9 tomatoes ,chopped (if using less tomato, use tomato puree or tomato sauce)
3 - 4 Cloves Garlic, Chopped
3 - 4 Basil Leaves, Chopped
4 - 5 Fresh Oregano, Chopped
1tsp Chili Flakes
1tbsp Olive/Sunflower oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
For cooking the Pasta :
Boil the pasta with 25gms Salt. Cook for 10 - 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Drain the Pasta and rinse in fresh cold water. Keep aside
For the Sauce :
Heat Oil add Garlic and saute.Now add the chopped tomatoes (and if using puree, that too), Salt and pepper and cook until the sauce becomes thick. To this add the Basil,oregano & the chilli flakes.
Once the sauce is ready , add the pasta.Toss gently. Serve hot.
Note:
If you have any sachets of oregano/chilli flakes from any pizza parlour, that helps a lot in this dish :) and for a healthy one, try the Wholewheat Pasta.
Prawns cooked in green gravy. This goes well with simple pulav(recipe is given earlier)
Ingredients:
1 cup prawns
1 cup corainder leaves
1 inch ginger
10 garlic
10 curry leaves
1/2 tblsp mustard seeds
5 medium sized tomatoes
2 green chillies
1 tblsp garam masala
1 medium sized onion
1/2 tlsp turmeric powder
2 tblsp oil
Salt to taste
Directions:
Make a paste of tomatoes, corainder, ginger, garlic, green chilliy
Heat oil. Add mustard seeds. Once the mustard seeds starts spluttering add curry leaves, onion and the prawns. After 5 mins add the green masala, garam masala and salt. Thats it. Prawn in green gravy is ready.

Ingredients:
5 big tblsp of ghee
3 cups basmati rice
6 medium sized onions sliced
6 meidum sized tomatoes chopped
1 big piece ginger
25 garlic cloves
2 green chillies
2 cup corainder leaves
1/2 cup pudina leaves (make paste) (not compulsory)
1 smal tblsp red chilli powder
1/2 tblsp turmeric powder
chicken 3/4 kg
2 stick dalchini
10 small elaichi
5 cloves
10 peppercorn
1 big elaichi
2 bay leaves
Instructions:
Make paste of coriander leaves,pudina,green chillies,ginger and garlic.
Heat ghee in pan, add onions, fry for 15 mins till its turns transparent. Add tomatoes cook well for 15 mins. Add the garam masala(cloves,elaichi,pepper,dalchini,bay leaves). Fry for 2 mins. Add the green paste, haldi, chilli powder. Cook for 5 mins. Add the washed chicken. Cook the chicken well.
cook the rice seperately with salt and 2 bay leaves.
In a vessel first add a layer of rice and some ghee followed by a layer of gravy. Follow the process for the entire rice and gravy.
Biryani is ready : )
